 Hey cupcake,

It's so nice to meet you!

"Sharing food is my favorite form of affection- it must be the southerner in me."

My name is Amanda Sorby. I am a twenty-something Virginia native. I am a compulsive list maker, I am mildly addicted to diet soda, and I have a passion for all things food but most especially baking and cake decorating. I believe that sweets should be enjoyed often, and I believe that they should be equally as beautiful as they are delicious.

I have always been comfortable in the kitchen. For me, the kitchen was synonymous with family time- dinner around the table or hanging out and catching up after a long day. With regards to cake decorating, though, you could say that "it all started" the summer after I graduated college. My graduation gift was a trip to Chicago and I spent two weeks at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating and Design learning everything that there is to know about the Wilton method. When I got home, I was hooked. Beyond the Wilton School, I don't have a lot of formal training, so I spent my free time testing out recipes and making cakes for friends and family for any and all occasions.  I kept my business relatively small and private for a few years as I gained experience and confidence, and in the fall of 2014 I finally made the leap and became an LLC.

I am at the starting line on the road of a small business owner, and I know that I have a lot to learn but I am so excited for the journey! My specialty is cakes for weddings and showers of all occasions though I do believe that every celebration deserves a treat. As you will see, I have a sweet, feminine style. I love a pastel palette and it is my opinion that sometimes the most delicate designs can make the boldest statements.
