At the beginning of 2018 I decided that I wanted to host as many cake classes as possible before we move away from the area. So, I blocked off several days for classes and booked our event space accordingly. One of those days was April 1, but little did I know that April 1 was also Easter! Once I realized what had happened, I worried that no one would sign up. To my pleasant surprise, though, last weekend I was joined on Easter Sunday by a lovely group of women and together we created one of my most popular and delicious cakes: the Snickers cake!
Y'all know by now that there are a few steps that remain basically the same regardless of what kind of cake we're making: unwrapping and leveling the cake layer and stacking and filling them with buttercream.
The Snickers cake is unique, however, because we mixed caramel sauce into our buttercream to flavor it and added chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and peanuts along with the buttercream in between the layers for even more flavor!
Once the cakes were filled and stacked, we added a light skim of buttercream to the outside to create a naked cake.
The last step was easily the most fun: adding the drip and decorations! These cakes had a chocolate and caramel drip and were topped with Snickers pieces and more caramel buttercream!
The Snickers cake is three layers of chocolate cake filled with caramel buttercream and peanuts, topped with a chocolate and caramel drip, peanuts, Snickers bars and more caramel buttercream - delicious right? Everyone was given the same tools and supplies but no two cakes looked exactly the same and that just tickles me every time!
This class was the perfect ending to a wonderful season of cake classes! I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful attendees that came out and can't wait to hopefully do this again sometime soon!
